Sad news for Joys Green club

I am really sorry to say that I am having to close down Joys Green club due to lack of numbers.  This is quite a blow as it was my longest running  but it leaves space for new clubs and new exciting developments.

New Club News!

So as most of my clubs close for the festivities (except Ross that has one more session on 17th to go) a NEW CLUB is born!!!
I shall be starting a beginners class up at Brampton Abbotts, nr Ross on Wye, on Wednesday mornings from 10-11, starting 9th January. We will be starting with a 10 week course which will include various Qigong sets and the Yang Style 6 form. The cost os £4 per student or pay for the whole 10 weeks in advance for £36 (no refunds for non-attendance). Evreyone welcome!
My other clubs will be starting back on 7th and 8th and, as always, are open to new members.

Autumn starting.

Well it’s 1st September which means it’ll soon be time to start classes again. Joys Green and Ross start this Monday (3rd) and Woolaston starts back on 4th.

Hope you’ve all had a great summer, see you in class!

Having a quick play in the Aberglaslyn Pass on our way home.

Big Blue Days

Thank you to everyone who came to sessions last week and helped support the Marine Conservation Society by wearing blue.  We raised a brilliant £45 for this great cause.

Ross on Wye Club's Big Blue Session.

Woolaston Club's Big Blue session.

Diamond Jubilee Classes

There will not be a class at either Joys Green or Ross on Wye this Monday but there will be a class running at Woolaston on Tuesday.

Don’t forget to wear blue the week after (11th and 12th) and help raise a few pounds for the Marine Conservation Society!

Big Blue Day

In support of Marine Conservation Society’s Big Blue Day on 8th June and World Ocean’s day, if any student wears blue in the week after (11th and 12th June) then I will donate £1 of their class fees to MCS.  Of course any further donations are very welcome.

May News

LotusLeaf Tai Chi is now on Facebook, this is where you can find more regular updates and Tai Chi and Qigong related links, articles and whatnots! Please “like” us and pass the link on to anyone who you think might be interested!

I have three workshops currently booked: 12th May- Yang Style Sword Form, 16th June- Yang Style Fan Form and 14th July Yang Style Sword Form.  They are being held at English Bicknor Village Hall between 2-4pm. They cost £7.50 each although there is a discount if you book more than one. everyone is welcome and the swords or fans are provided.

There will be no session for either Ross or Joys Green next Monday (7th May) as it is Bank Holiday.

Thanks to everyone who sponsored me for running the Forest of Dean Half Marathon, I raised a massive £1,062-15 in the end which went to the Marine Conservation Society and Surfers Against Sewage.

Spring cleaning and the bursting of the new!

The Cherries are out in flower and the grass is already growing, how brilliantly quickly it all comes around again!

A few dates for your diaries and a few bits of news:

Dates first;1st April is my Forest of Dean Half Marathon run, starting from the Speech house going 13.1 miles before returning back there. If you are in the area come and cheer me on or if you are feeling generous spare a pound or five and sponsor me via: www.justgiving.com/teams/katiewright Thanks!

Easter is nearly here, there will not be a class on Easter Monday (9th April) for either Joys Green or Ross.  We would normally have a class at Woolaston on 10th April but we have been asked to swap with the W.I. so there will be NO class on 10th but there will be a class on 17th April.

Classes, other than those dates, are running as normal.

NEWS! Ross and Woolaston classes are both about to start new forms.  Woolaston are going to be learning, or reacquainting themselves with the Yang Style 24form, which will be great to bring the whole class together again.  They will be going over the 42form every so often as well.  We have yet to reach a decision as to the next form for the Ross class!  These change overs will take place after Easter, all being well.

Happy New Year!

….and since this is being written so late after the calendar New Year I shall say Gung Hai Fat Choi too, for 23rd.  It’s the year of the water Dragon this coming year.

As has become tradition, we are holding our annual get together and despite a bit of a mess it has now been booked.  We are going to The Lotus Restaurant in Cinderford and it bodes to be a great evening.

There are many things planned for this coming year. We hope to hold more workshops on the Sword and Fan forms, maybe branching into the longer, faster Kung Fu Tai Chi Fan Form.

Katie is running the Forest of Dean Half Marathon on 1st April in aid of The Marine Conservation Society and Surfers Against Sewage.  She has a Just Giving page and would greatly appreciate any donations anyone would care to give.

Classes continue as always with normal session now until Easter.

Workshop successes!

What a great couple of workshops!  Well done to all that attended you worked really hard and to get through either of the forms in that short time is an achievement in itself.

I’m really pleased that people enjoyed them enough to ask for more, so more I have arranged (well one more!) . The hall is booked for 10th December 2-4pm for another Sword form workshop, £7.50 per student.

Please let me know if you would like to come.
