In support of Marine Conservation Society’s Big Blue Day on 8th June and World Ocean’s day, if any student wears blue in the week after (11th and 12th June) then I will donate £1 of their class fees to MCS. Of course any further donations are very welcome.

I have three workshops currently booked: 12th May- Yang Style Sword Form, 16th June- Yang Style Fan Form and 14th July Yang Style Sword Form. They are being held at English Bicknor Village Hall between 2-4pm. They cost £7.50 each although there is a discount if you book more than one. everyone is welcome and the swords or fans are provided.
There will be no session for either Ross or Joys Green next Monday (7th May) as it is Bank Holiday.
Thanks to everyone who sponsored me for running the Forest of Dean Half Marathon, I raised a massive £1,062-15 in the end which went to the Marine Conservation Society and Surfers Against Sewage.
Spring cleaning and the bursting of the new!
Posted in General, Qigong, Tai Chi, Training on 03/14/2012 10:41 am by katiewrightThe Cherries are out in flower and the grass is already growing, how brilliantly quickly it all comes around again!
A few dates for your diaries and a few bits of news:
Dates first;1st April is my Forest of Dean Half Marathon run, starting from the Speech house going 13.1 miles before returning back there. If you are in the area come and cheer me on or if you are feeling generous spare a pound or five and sponsor me via: www.justgiving.com/teams/katiewright Thanks!
Easter is nearly here, there will not be a class on Easter Monday (9th April) for either Joys Green or Ross. We would normally have a class at Woolaston on 10th April but we have been asked to swap with the W.I. so there will be NO class on 10th but there will be a class on 17th April.
Classes, other than those dates, are running as normal.
NEWS! Ross and Woolaston classes are both about to start new forms. Woolaston are going to be learning, or reacquainting themselves with the Yang Style 24form, which will be great to bring the whole class together again. They will be going over the 42form every so often as well. We have yet to reach a decision as to the next form for the Ross class! These change overs will take place after Easter, all being well.
Happy New Year!
Posted in General, Training on 01/08/2012 03:25 pm by katiewright….and since this is being written so late after the calendar New Year I shall say Gung Hai Fat Choi too, for 23rd. It’s the year of the water Dragon this coming year.
As has become tradition, we are holding our annual get together and despite a bit of a mess it has now been booked. We are going to The Lotus Restaurant in Cinderford and it bodes to be a great evening.
There are many things planned for this coming year. We hope to hold more workshops on the Sword and Fan forms, maybe branching into the longer, faster Kung Fu Tai Chi Fan Form.
Katie is running the Forest of Dean Half Marathon on 1st April in aid of The Marine Conservation Society and Surfers Against Sewage. She has a Just Giving page and would greatly appreciate any donations anyone would care to give.
Classes continue as always with normal session now until Easter.
Workshop successes!
Posted in Tai Chi, Training on 10/18/2011 10:48 am by katiewrightWhat a great couple of workshops! Well done to all that attended you worked really hard and to get through either of the forms in that short time is an achievement in itself.
I’m really pleased that people enjoyed them enough to ask for more, so more I have arranged (well one more!) . The hall is booked for 10th December 2-4pm for another Sword form workshop, £7.50 per student.
Please let me know if you would like to come.
Autumn Winds
Posted in Qigong, Tai Chi, The Outside World, Training, Uncategorized on 09/21/2011 09:24 am by katiewrightAs the equinox winds are upon us and the leaves start to change making the Forest glow with a firey breath, I am writing with the updates for each class.
First though, the two workshops have been confirmed and are running as follows:
Saturday 24th September – Yang Style Sword Worskshop, 2-4pm. Swords will be provided and everyone is welcome. I have 3 places left for this workshop.
Saturday 15th October – Yang Style Fan Workshop, 2-4pm. Again fans will be provided and everyone is welcome. I have 4 places left for this workshop.
Onto the classes.
Joys Green – Classes will be running as normal right up until Christmas. The last session will be on December 19th and we start back again on either 2nd or 9th of January, whichever is preferred.
Ross on Wye- Same as above with normal classes up until 19th December and back on either 2nd or 9th January
Woolaston- We have our normal break from classes for WI on the third Tuesday of the month, so that will be 18th October and 15th November. Due to this the last class before Christmas will be 13th December but I hope that everyone will agree to coming back on 3rd January.
Chinese New year is on 23rd January and is the start of the year of the Dragon. It would be great to do our usual jaunt out to the Dragon’s Den in Monmouth, or anywhere else people suggest. on either Friday 20th or 27th. Let me know if you are interested.

Everyone is welcome whether new to Tai Chi or a practiced hand, or even you don’t normally attend any of my classes. Price of the workshops is £7.50 or £12.50 if you book both.
Please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to attend as I need to confirm the booking.
Summer News!
Posted in Qigong, Tai Chi, Training on 07/07/2011 03:54 pm by katiewrightHolidays.
All Clubs will be breaking up at the end of July for the whole of August, as usual. This means that the last and first sessions for each club will be:
Joys Green: last session on 25th July with the first session back 5th September
Ross: As Above, last session on 25th July and starting back again on 5th September
Woolaston: Last session on 26th July with the first session back on 6th September.
As always if anyone can find me up in the wilds of North Wales I’ll give you a free session on the beach! Get yourselves to Abersoch and ask in Abersoch Watersports where the crazy van is/was. Either they will look at you blankly or give you directions!
Workshops.
I am currently looking into doing regular (once a month) workshops hopefully at English Bicknor hall where students can learn new forms including weapons (fan or sword) and different Qigong sets amongst other things. If anyone has an idea for something in particular please let me know. I expect the session will be about one and a half hours long and cost will be no more than £7.50/student.
Woolaston Club.
For your diary, there is no session on 19th July, 20th September, 18th October, 15th November and 20th December.
When the weather’s good get outside!
Posted in General, Tai Chi, The Outside World, Training on 06/14/2011 12:29 pm by katiewrightThere is nothing better than practicing Tai Chi outside, whether it be in your back garden or in a local park.
Why not try and get a few friends together and go practice outside of class!
Training update
Posted in Training on 04/22/2011 07:51 am by katiewrightThere WILL be a session on the May bank holiday (2nd) at Ross on Wye Club but NOT for Joys Green Club.
Enjoy the weather and have a practice out in the garden, it’s a beautiful way of doing Tai Chi.
